In 2019 we gained the CAFOD Live Simply Award

Congratulations children.

Summer Term

We are currently planting and giving our Prayer Garden a make over.
We are working with Knowsley Council to improve the local environment by litter picking in school, the local area and parish.
We are also helping our children and staff to improve their re-cycling skills.
We hope that you will join in with us.

Spring Term

Recently we have been monitoring our use of energy. We have been using 8560.7Kwh per month. After the Eco Warriors have been helping Mr Moore to monitor the use of energy we have seen a reduction to 6662.1 Kwh per month, a saving of 1898.6 Kwh. Well done everyone.

The Eco Team recently achieved the top national award of the Green Flag.

We have recently received confirmation and the assessor was very complimentary.

The children were filled with knowledge and enthusiasm…the displays of pupil work on recycling, water, healthy living and transport, were beautiful and reflect a whole school commitment to environmental work.’

Green Flag Award Letter

Congratulations to the Eco team who successfully helped Mr Clarke to gain the green Flag Eco Award this year.

You are all marvellous.

The Eco Team have been busy re-cycling milk plastic bottles and using them as flower pots. Also, old tyres and industrial wire holders have been used to make the Eco Area beautiful.

Take a look at our fantastic green house made out of plastic bottles.

Mr Clarke and his Gardening team worked hard last week using the compost which they have made to plant potatoes and strawberries. They have also set up a bird feeder to attract wild life to our school playground.

We’re passionate about sustainability, it’s the heart of our business. We aim to lead the way in tackling textile waste and inspire, engage and support schools, clubs, charities, community groups and business organisations to improve the impact they have on society through fundraising from textile and clothing recycling.

Thank you to everyone who donated bags for our Phil The Bag! As you can see from our photographs we collected well over our target!

‘Phil’ the Bag is a FREE clothing recycling initiative… Helping you raise funds from your textile recycling donations.

At least 75% of textiles we throw away are recyclable, however, we only recycle around 25% and textiles still make up 12% of landfill sites.

Our main aim is to increase textile and clothing recycling to reduce landfill and offer a financial reward to those participating in our project.

What do we collect?

We collect all types of unwanted textiles including: All kinds of clothing, shoes, bags, belts, hats, towels. We cannot accept curtains, pillows, duvets, sleeping bags, tent canvas or school uniform with logos/badges on.

Items are accepted in any condition, however,
we are unable to accept WET items.

Unfortunately we are also unable to accept towels, bedding and curtains from commercial organizations. Eg. Hospitals, hotels and animal sanctuaries.

Please be advised we are happy to accept your collection items in other bag types.

Just think how these additional funds could be spent – extra books, computers, sports equipment, a school trip or on eco-friendly initiatives like plants for the school garden!

I am so proud of you. Miss Bowman

We are delighted to announce we have been awarded the Silver Eco- Schools Award. Over the next few months we will be working towards obtaining the highest award which is the Green Flag. We are all extremely proud of how hard the children have worked to bringing about changed within school enabling us to receive this award.

Well done Eco- Warriors!

Monday 4th March

Kirsty will be leading an assembly on Fairtrade. All throughout the week we will be taking part in Eco activities.

Our Eco-team are committed to helping others create an eco-friendly environment in, and out, of school.

Sue-Anne  has created an Ec0-Code to inform the children about the role the Eco team plays in our school community. Each year group will be given a copy to display in class and other copies will be places around school.

Environment stays clean.
Clean environment results in a clean earth.
Our world will be polluted if we don’t tidy up after ourselves.

Try and save electricity both in school and at home.
Everybody reduce, reuse and recycle.
Also pick up litter and put it in the bin.
Make sure you follow these rules to keep our school community Eco friendly
